As consumers, traders, writers and migrant producers, the Irish have had an amazing influence on the world of wine. Let’s celebrate St Patrick’s day by tasting some fantastic examples of Irish invention.
Find yourself a bottle (or half-bottle) of:
* white (probably Chardonnay) from Australia’s Clare Valley
* red Bordeaux
* and maybe you have a drop of Cognac at the back of a kitchen cupboard?
We will also discuss the celtic connection in Porto, California, New Zealand the south of France, Burgundy, Sherry and elsewhere – including the invention of spirits! There will be photos, maps and diagrams to make everything clear.
I will post some suggestions depending on your location – and also a few food pairing possibilities.
